Mary Elizabeth Price was born in West Virginia in 1875. She and her family moved to Solebury, Pennsylvania when Price was very young. She studied at the Pennsylvania Academy of the Fine Arts and was later admitted into the National Academy of Design. Price was a longtime member of the Philadelphia Ten. Price often incorporated gold leaf into her artwork and is known for her floral compositions. Her style is unique and quite distinct.
