Fleeing By Night is a beautfiul two-color illustration by Charles Hargens. The painting, from 1938, measures 36 x 18 inches and is signed at lower right: "Charles Hargens". Charles Hargens was a well known illustrator. He studied at the Pennsylvania Academy of the Fine Arts and moved to Carversville, Pennsylvania in the 1940s. His illustrations were featured on the covers of many books, including many popular Western novels of the time, as well as magazines and other publications.
