Edward Willis Redfield
From Lumberville to Raven Rock ca. 1915
From Lumberville to Raven Rock is a painting with a unique provenance. Redfield and his wife were often invited to play bridge with friends. Redfield was not much of a bridge player and would often spend his time sketching or painting. One  day, circa 1915, he painted this particular piece on the lid of a card box and awarded it to the winner of the bridge game. The painting stayed within the family for many years and was eventually framed as you see it today. The painting has been authenticated by the expert on Redfield, Dr. Thomas Folk. It is in excellent condition and has been cleaned and varnished. It is a lovely winter scene by one of the founding members of the New Hope School and boasts a fascinating history. It is oil on a card box lid.
