Paulette Van Roekens was well known for her lively compositions. Here, in Country Fair, we see an example of just such a scene. The 12 x 14 inch composition is signed at lower left: "P. Van Roekens". It is oil on canvas. Van Roekens was born in France and moved to the United States as an infant. She taught at Moore College of Art & Design for nearly 40 years. It was there that she met her husband, Arthur Meltzer.
