Roy C. Kneeland was born in Buffalo, New York in 1891. A graduate of the Rochester Institute of Technology, he taught art at Trenton Junior College and at the School of Industrial Arts in Trenton, and retired from teaching in 1956. During World War I, Kneeland worked in Medical supply for the armed services. After the war, the artist taught art classes at Trenton Junior College from 1919 until WW2. From 1944-46, during the war, Kneeland taught art classes at the YMCA and the USO. Kneeland was one of the charter members of the Morrisville-Trenton Art Group and was also a member of the Art Student's League of Rochester and New York City. During the artist's later years, he painted exclusively with a palette knife. Little else is known of this artist because he rarely exhibited or sold his work. His early paintings primarily show the scenery of Bucks County Pennsylvania, c. 1930. Later works took on a religious theme. Kneeland died in 1982.
