(Telford, Pennsylvania, b. 1933)
Ray Overpeck was born in Bucks County, Pennsylvania and currently resides in Telford, Pennsylvania. His formal training included studying at the Philadelphia Museum College of Art and the Pennsylvania Academy of Fine Art. In more recent years he has attended numerous workshops with many different artists, both locally and in New England. The greatest influence on Overpeck has been the paintings of the French Impressionists Alfred Sisley and Camille Pissarro in addition to the Bucks County Impressionists. Ray's greatest love is painting on location in any season of the year. He works in both watercolor and oils. Although Ray is fond of New England, he feels there is an endless source of painting material in the Bucks County area, and finds it to be his richest source of inspiration.
Ray has been accepted in juried exhibitions included Phillips Mill, Cape May County Art League and Perkiomen Valley Art Center. His awards have included "First Prize in Watercolor", at both the Allentown Arts Festival as well as at the Gallery in The Park, located in Sellersville, Pennsylvania. In addition, he was awarded, "Best of Show" from the Lansdale Art League. Ray has had numerous one man shows.
