Jean in Costume 1923
Jean in Costume is a portrait of Rae Sloan Bredin's youngest daughter. The painting was exhibited at the National Academy of Design in 1923 and the Pennsylvania Academy of the Fine Arts in 1924 and is listed in the catalogue from that exhibition (no. 187). Jean in Costume was also exhibited at the Guild Club in Long Island, New York and spent nearly forty years at the Carnegie Institute. The oil on canvas is in a hand-carved reproduction frame and is signed at lower right, "R.S. Bredin". The painting was owned exclusively by the family prior to our purchase.
