John Folinsbee's interest in art began at a very young age. He studied art as a child at the Albright Art Gallery. As a young man he studied with Birge Harrison and John Carlson in Woodstock, New York. He exhibited his work at the National Academy of Design and received many awards from the institution. In 1916, he moved to New Hope, Pennsyvlania with his wife, Ruth. Folinsbee is one of the most well-known artists from the New Hope circle- his paintings are highly sought by collectors.
